Having a heart and call for missions I am so happy that Jeannie is checking in and posting pics. My sister in law is from the Philippines and some of her family remains there. They have disribed many of the struggles there and my prayer for Jeannie is safety and break through to show God's love. I also will pray for freedom from poverty for this wonderful nation. Pour it out Jeannie!!!! You Rock have fun!!! Agentj in KY

Cute kid. Those aluminum ceilings bring back memories. The house I grew up in as a kid in Puerto Rico had those kinds of ceilings. Not as run down as those but aluminum nonetheless.

Hello Jeannie.
That's amazing that you're in the Philippines. My family is from Manila, well a small city near it. I hope you enjoy! God Bless You. Those bikes are called sidecars, aren't they neat?

Have fun and take care!

I grew up in the Philippines and is now living here in California. Reading your blog and seeing the pictures brought back a lot of memories. Yes, there's so much poverty in the Philippines, money-wise (a lot of riches, luxuries and progress too on the flip-side). Some have to even skip meals because they cannot afford it. But these financial struggles failed to dampen the happy, optimistic spirit of the Filipinos. They can smile, joke, and laugh no matter what circumstances they are in. This is why you call them happy, I guess.

Thank you so much for helping my countrymen, you and your team truly are a blessing. But I hope, too, that you will enjoy your stay there. The country has many beautiful scenic spots (Corregidor, Boracay, Hidden Valley, Pagsanjan Falls, Villa Escudero, Palawan, etc.) and if you enjoy the ambiance of New York or San Francisco, try visiting Makati City or Greenhills. Oh, and there's SM Mall of Asia, the 3rd or the 7th biggest mall in the world, with 386,224 m² floor area, 600 shops, 150 dining establishments, olympic size ice-skating rink and walkways giving you a view of the Manila Bay.

Oh, and the bike in the picture is called a tricycle =).
